TWO teenagers have been charged after items were thrown from a bridge on to the A78.

It follows several reports to Police Scotland in relation to this on the evening of Tuesday, December 12.

One such report revealed the female passenger of a car was injured after a vehicle was struck by a plant pot thrown from the bridge near the Eglinton Roundabout in Irvine.

The woman required hospital treatment due to the injuries sustained as a result of the incident.

After attending the area at the time of the reports, officers say that enquiries have led to two teenage boys - aged 13 and 14 - being charged in connection to the incidents.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.40pm on Tuesday, December 12, we received several reports of items being thrown from a bridge onto the A78 near the Eglington roundabout in Irvine.

“Several vehicles were affected and one person was injured and required hospital treatment.

“Officers attended and following enquiries, two male youths, aged 13 and 14, have been charged in connection.

"A report will be sent to the Scottish Children’s Reporters Administration.”
